First Edward Crawford. Then Deandre Joshua. Then Darren Seals. And now Danye Jones. Well known members of the Ferguson uprising are being killed off one by one.
Back in May of 2017, Edward Crawford – the Brother seen in the featured image above – was found dead with a gunshot to his head.
His death was ruled a suicide. A few took notice on Twitter…
…but his death and legacy were ultimately forgotten.
That was until another Ferguson activist named Darren Seals was shot dead in 2016.
The Washington Post wrote:
In many ways, Seals was a fitting symbol of the Ferguson protester: a local resident, not a trained activist or organizer, who saw Michael Brown’s dead body and the trauma that his death had inflicted on the community, members of which organically poured into the streets — bringing with them their baggage, their contradictions and their humanity.
“He represented the authenticity of Ferguson: that rawness, that realness, that readiness,” said Alexis Templeton, a Ferguson activist who at times publicly clashed with Seals.
“There is just a relationship that St. Louis folks have with each other where it’s still love,” Templeton said. “He’s a human being, he was out there with me, we both got arrested during those protests, we shared the experience of Ferguson. That makes us blood.”
Again, the mainstream media wrote Seals off as another thug who lived by the sword and died by the sword.
Then there was Deandre Joshua.
Joshua was found shot to death and burned via lit gasoline inside of his white Pontiac Grand Prix. This happened on the night that a grand jury failed to indict Darren Wilson in 2014.
Though the 20-year-old has been identified as a protester via Twitter and a few news outlets, his family has stated that he never participated in the riots or protests.
He was however, a friend of Dorian Johnson, the young man who was walking with Michael Brown when he was murdered by Officer Darren Wilson, according to the New York Times.
And now this Facebook post surfaced via Linda Ijekis Blog :
A woman named Melissa Mckinnies shared graphic photos of her son on her Facebook page. The woman who is a Black Lives Matter activist in Ferguson said she found found her son Danye Jones hanging in the backyard of their home, with his pants were down.
The Mother said Dante showed no signs of being depressed and his recent Facebook posts shows the 25 year old was having some business success with real estate.
Below is the post the mother made on Facebook.
Once again, local law enforcement is making the death out to be a suicide.
The Ferguson riots took place in 2014 after 18-year-old Michael Brown was killed by Officer Darren Wilson. In November 2014, a grand jury declined to indict Wilson for any crimes related to the shooting.
Unlike many Ferguson activists, it is worth mentioning that Darren Wilson is alive and well.
