Elementary Genocide: Exposing The School To Prison Pipeline with Rahiem Shabazz – UBA Radio

Brown V. Board of Education helped to destroy the Black community in the United States. The landmark 1954 Supreme Court ruling that desegregated schools meant 46,000 Black teachers lost their jobs, and a ‘brain drain’ costed our communities the best and brightest students.

School desegregation gave birth to a new phenomenon with prosecution being used as a weapon of white supremacy. In fact,   from 1978 to 2014 the prison population in the United States exploded by 408%!

This was not an accident, but was the result of a political strategy designed to reverse the gains of the Civil Rights Movement.

In this remastered episode of our award winning podcast, Rahiem Shabazz exposes the school to prison pipeline and how we can take action against the system of mass incarceration.
